DESIGN FOCUS: WAYFINDING
In the Fall of 2024, I was part of a collaborative project with a group of 10 hand-picked JWU students where we partnered with The Avenue Concept The Avenue Concept is a Non-Profit organization that installs murals and sculptures around the city of Providence.
DESIGN OVERVIEW
Originally, our project started by researching various locations in Providence to select an ideal wall for a mural, considering factors such as area, historical significance, and material suitability. I decided on the side wall of the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) and I envisioned a mural showcasing illustrations of artists who have performed there. However, during the second half of the semester, after a client meeting, our design team shifted gears, and started collaborating on a single mural focused on PPAC performers. My primary contributions to the mural included conducting research on each performer and crafting typographic elements for each design. Additionally, I played a role in refining the overall composition of the mural designs.
DESIGN OUTCOME
The goal I achieved after completing this mural was successfully collaborating with not only 10 other students but with the Avenue Concept as well. It was a wonderful experience to be able to research providence and work with such a creative company.
